There is an increased focus on healthy work environments to improve patient safety and enhance workforce retention. It is clear that nurses play a key role in creating collaborative work environments and it is our professional obligation to develop a greater capacity for engaging in conversations that build working relationships while addressing difficult issues such as disrespect, lack of teamwork and unsafe care. True collaboration is both a way of being and a way of working. To do no harm, the most fundamental of our obligations, we must work together.
